数学論文を書く時の英語表現まとめ
最近論文を書いた時の経験を、個人的にリストにしておく。
基本事項
- 主語は基本的に“we”を使う。
- 時勢は過去形か現在形。未来形は（Future workなどを除いて）基本使わない。現在完了もときどき使うけど、頻度は低い。
記号を宣言するとき
Let G be a bipartite graph.
Let us denote a bipartite graph by G.
Define G as a bipartite graph.
用語の定義
A graph G is said to be bipartite if ...
A graph G is called a bipartite graph if ...
“bipartite”のように形容詞を定義する場合は be said to be A を使い、“bipartite graph”のように名詞を定義する場合は be called A を使うほうが、個人的には好き
関係代名詞
The running time is O(m^3n), where m is ....
「ここで・・・」を表す“where”の前には基本的にカンマを付けた方がいい
Lovász solves the special case in which B = 0.
whereは上記の「ここで・・・」の用法が多いので、in whichやat whichをあまりwhereで置き換えないほうがいいと思う
それぞれ
Let M^+ and M^- be matroids on V^+ and V^-, respectively.
“respectively”の前にはカンマを入れる。
